It has been my esteemed pleasure to sit and watch the live competition at the Jungle Night Club in Atlanta Georgia. I am good friends with the Makeup artist Mason of Airbrush by Mason. I managed to sneak back stage one time so I could watch him work which I love to do. To my observation he was doing a young ladies hair and makeup for a young lady visiting from Germany. He was almost complete and the young lady got a glace of herself and started to tear up. Not because she did not like it, but because she had never had her hair and makeup done by someone. She absolutely loved it and couldn't thank him enough. As I kept sneaking back and forth from the performances and watching Mason work. I was starting to realize that he was doing all of their looks on the fly. He had no instruction prior to the night on how they were to look. I am sorry but that is talent and I work with the show FACE OFF and he may not always do that type of makeup but some of the work I have seen Mason do could give them a run for their money and he does it so fast. He gets 10 to 12 people ready in increments of 15 to 20 minutes or less. Dominoes isn't even that fast! The show itself was absolutely amazing. The favorite that night was a Ms. Sarah Peavy with her amazing broadway voice. She sang Neverland and it was better than any rendition I have ever heard. Ms. Peavy had the voice that would put Ms. Idina Menzel "Defying Gravity" to shame. It was a voice that you could feel touch the very depth of your soul and leaving you wanting. I can't wait to see her in her first broadway musical which I am sure will be soon. I will keep a close eye out for Mason's next artistic endeavor (after all you have to be an artist to have his job) and we will all be watching how this competition unfolds. I would say a word of advise to all performers out there. Mason is a guy to have in your corner. You would be surprised at some of the people he does makeup for and they adore him. Hopefully I will write a few more posts on Mason's blog soon before I go back to L.A. and back to the movie scene.
Mason keep doing what you are doing. You are starting to get noticed in my world and your name is heard at least twice a day on every set I am on. "I love Mason, he is so sweet and he listens to me and what I want every time and still puts a little of his own signature to it", "Is Mason going to be working on this film? I know he isn't union but can't we find a way around that?" Also, there is a "desperate" (you know who) who misses you and wants her makeup artist here.
Until next time and I hope soon....Sing For Your Life!
